A Future for our Forests

The fashion industry uses more than 150 million trees every year to produce cellulosic fabrics such as rayon, viscose, lyocell and modal – if placed end to end these trees would circle the earth seven times.

We’re committed to protecting the world’s forests through the responsible sourcing of cellulose-based materials such as paper, packaging and fibers. We’ve partnered with Canopy, an NGO dedicated to developing innovative business ideas to save forests and ecosystems. We’ll work with Canopy and our suppliers to support collaborative and visionary solutions that ultimately reduce the demands placed upon our forests.

We’ll fight illegal tree logging by ensuring that our fabrics are sourced from sustainably managed forests. All of our packaging, paper and manmade cellulosic fabrics will be sourced from forests certified to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) system.

Over the course of the next three years, we’ll also implement a reduction and reuse strategy to lower the amount of paper used for packaging, storage, shipping and marketing purposes. Introducing reusable and circular packaging solutions, we’ll similarly prioritise using packaging and paper with a focus on agricultural fibers and recycled content.

We’ll seek opportunities to educate and inform the public on these issues through our marketing and communication channels.
