Today, Fritz manages Nanushka’s New York City Flagship Store, alongside being an artist with a focus on sketch. Through close collaboration, Fritz created a piece of art reflecting upon both the evolution and essence of Nanushka’s presence in New York City.
1. Can you explain your relationship with Nanushka in New York City?
My relationship with Nanushka in New York City has been one of the constants in a world that’s always shifting. I started working with them just a few weeks after I moved here, and it felt like one of those rare things that clicks right away.
There’s something about the attention to detail, the simplicity, and the thoughtfulness in the designs that resonates with me. It’s not just about clothes – it’s about how they make you feel, how they help you present yourself to the world.
Over time, that connection to Nanushka has shaped how I see my own style, and in a way, how I navigate this city. It’s been a part of my growth, something I carry with me as I keep moving forward.
2. How does your work connect to the ethos of Nanushka?
My work, much like Nanushka’s, is rooted in an authenticity that feels almost instinctual. There’s something about creating that, for me, is second nature – it’s about capturing the essence of a moment or an idea and letting it flow through the details.
That’s where I feel the connection to Nanushka’s ethos. Their designs are distinct, not just because of the materials or the shapes, but because of the thoughtfulness behind every stitch, every fabric choice.
I try to bring that same intentionality to what I do – creating pieces that speak for themselves, with a quiet confidence and a focus on the subtle elements that make something truly unique. We both share a dedication to craft, where simplicity and depth coexist seamlessly.
3. Can you walk us through the creative concept of your Nanushka artwork?
For the Nanushka artwork, I wanted to create something that truly honored this new space on Mercer St– a space that represents the next chapter in Nanushka’s journey.
The concept was to capture that evolution while staying true to the essence of the brand. I took a mixed media approach, incorporating real models of the space to bring a sense of depth and authenticity.
The figures in the piece are meant to reflect the diversity of beauty and style that Nanushka celebrates, each styled in looks inspired by different collections and seasons. It’s a visual narrative of how Nanushka evolves with time, yet always stays rooted in its distinct aesthetic.
The idea was to create something that feels alive, that mirrors the energy of the brand and the people who wear it.
4. Can you talk us through your creative methods used to bring your ideas to life and into visual art form?
I’ve been sketching and doodling for as long as I can remember, so my creative process always starts with keeping my imagination open.
It’s about letting inspiration find me, whether it’s through music, stories, flipping through magazines, or simply people-watching. Once I’ve soaked in enough of that creative energy, my imagination starts to flow, and I begin sketching. It’s a very instinctive process – I don’t overthink it. I just let the ideas evolve naturally, sketching and experimenting until something feels right.
I’ve found that when I allow myself to stay present and enjoy the act of creating, that’s when my best work comes to life. It’s about trusting the process and letting the art take shape on its own.

Vibrant, Expressive, Intricate, Emotional, Innovative.
6. What emotion do you want to convey through this print?
I wanted this print to evoke a deep sense of community, one that celebrates both fashion and craft as forces that bring people together. It’s not just about the clothes or the art itself – it’s about the shared experience, the connection between people who appreciate the details, the craftsmanship, and the creativity behind it all.
I want the viewer to feel that sense of belonging, to see how fashion can be a form of expression that unites us, while also honoring the individuality that makes each person’s style unique. It’s about the harmony between those elements – individuality within a collective spirit.
